This Rooftop is centred in the quaint town of Lija. The space seemed to be lacking shade, had poor lighting and barely any plants surviving. The scope of the project was to aesthetically improve the rooftop, keeping in mind a few requirements from the client such as sectioning off the clothes drying area. The client desired a space for relaxation and entertainment which led us to propose barn light fittings with a matching pendant light above the existing outdoor dining table. A wooden pergola painted in white with natural raw material for shading using locally sourced cane (qasab) was chosen. The proposed planting was chosen carefully whilst considering the extreme heat conditions of the rooftop by selecting hardy plants that love the wind and sun in the exposed areas of the rooftop, whilst keeping the less hardy plants in dappled shade beneath the newly built pergola.
